In search for the perfect yarn.

So I am still obsessing. I have so far found the perfect needles. They are the HiyaHiya Sharp. After much looking into and asking Reddit because who else has this kind of information I decided these were the best. They are sharp and durable which is really all I need right now.

The yarn and the beads have proved to be a bit more difficult I am still looking online. I am just a little intimidated about buying yarn measured in kilometres without touching it before hand. In order to do some touching I remembered there is a silk studio at Granville Island so I will be going there next saturday to see what they have prices and to then decide on what is what.

Why next week if I have nothing to do this week? Because I want to tell my mom before I make any decisions because I feel like I am actively lying to her when I talk to her on Skype and can't rant about my obsession and ask for suggestions. My mom is also a ridiculous a great source of knowledge. Not exactly about knitting but of things and it really hurts to not be able to share this. I have it under good authority that is about 3 weeks I will be able to tell so I am stalling till then.

So in order to stop obsessing for a while/ to stall I am knitting this shawl which is hopefully going to be done and blocked by the time friday night comes.

The start to this insane adventure.

So I think I cracked today, or I am finally letting my self think of this whole wedding business. I have been waiting for this moment for so long it is hard to really comprehend it is happening. Added to the whole OMG TEH BIGGEST MOMENT IN MY LIFE SO FAR IS HAPPENING (I can't believe how antifeminist that sounded oh well) is the fact that I cant tell. What?! Yes that is right I am not allowed to tell anyone which is why I am writing this so the whole world can see.

So back to the main crux of the issue. I have decided I will be knitting my veil as well as my bouquet, the boutonnieres, and corsages. I think I have in fact gone insane. But the more I think about it and look for thread/yarn the more and more I like this idea. I will be wearing my grandma's dress. I am a lover of hats and have one from the era that I believe is a pretty good match to the one in the dress and I love the idea of this veil being something mine and utterly me.

And so we move to the actual pattern, the yarn and the beads to do it with. Oh yeah, did I not mention those? I am beading this bitch because why not. So for the pattern I am going to attempt MMario's Wedding Peacock. That part was fairly easy it is beautiful fairly simple and I have it under good authority I can actually pull it off. The question is now the yarn. After much market testing (aka I went to my knitting circle with epic women and went "AAHHHAAA I don't know what I am doing those bamboo work?") I have settled in Silk. 100% silk because since I am not spending on my dress I get to spend on my veil and in all honesty it isn't that much, around 80ish including shipping for the yarn and working on the bead angle but it is looking like 50ish for those. For the yarn I am debating between this and this yarns from Habu. Leaning towards the  Tram I just wish I could touch it before buying it.
